Outdoor Seating & Majlis
Built-in or loose outdoor majlis and seating, with shade, lighting and fixed benches.

Outdoor seating is a core part of a home here, not an add-on. We build it either as fixed benches with a table and backrests, or as a prepared area — surfacing, shade, lighting and power points — ready for loose furniture. The choice comes down to use: built-in looks cleaner and lasts, loose gives you the freedom to rearrange.
Dimensions separate seating that is used from seating that is photographed
The most common complaint about outdoor seating is that it "looks good but is uncomfortable". The cause is always dimensions. A traditional Arabic majlis has a lower seat height and greater depth than a standard sofa — that is what makes it comfortable for long sittings with back cushions. When dimensions are taken from an indoor sofa, the seating photographs correctly and hurts your back after half an hour.
Sun decides the materials
Natural timber here needs outdoor treatment and periodic re-treatment, or it cracks and fades. Composite alternatives (WPC) neither crack nor need coating — but the feel and appearance differ, which is a preference decision rather than a quality one.
Fabrics are the same story: indoor fabric on outdoor seating fades within a season. Outdoor UV-resistant fabric costs more and lasts substantially longer.
Shade is part of the seating
Seating without designed shade is used after sunset only. And shade added after the seating is finished rarely looks coherent — posts land in awkward places and proportions do not resolve. Designed together, the posts become part of the structure and the proportions work.
The raised platform
Seating directly on the ground draws moisture from below, and that moisture reaches timber and fabrics and shortens their life. A slightly raised platform with drainage beneath solves it, and adds visual definition — the seating reads as a defined place rather than furniture set on the ground.
Lighting sets the mood
Outdoor seating is used mainly at night, so lighting is not a detail. Strong direct light creates glare and destroys the sense of being outdoors. The alternative: indirect warm light from under seats, behind backrests or above the canopy — lighting the space without becoming the thing the eye looks at.
Scope of work
- Arabic majlis at comfortable seating dimensions, not decorative ones
- Outdoor-treated timber or composite alternatives that resist sun cracking
- UV-resistant fabrics that come off for washing
- Shade integrated into the design, not added afterwards
- Indirect warm-toned lighting suited to evening use
- Raised, drained platform that keeps moisture from under the seating
How we deliver
Seating count and use
Everyday numbers versus guests at gatherings. The gap between them decides whether the seating is all fixed or includes movable pieces.
Platform and level
A platform raised off the ground with drainage beneath, so moisture never reaches the timber and fabrics.
Structure and shade
Seating structure and shade built together — shade added afterwards rarely reads as part of the design.
Fabrics and lighting
Install removable-cover upholstery and indirect lighting, then hand over with care guidance.
